Held in Care: A Morning of Rest & Collective Connection
This June, Hardberger Park became a sanctuary for caregivers. Beneath the morning clouds, a community gathered with mats and blankets to trade the weight of daily responsibilities for a rare moment of stillness. It was an honor to witness parents and caregivers finally choosing themselves—breathing, reconnecting, and simply being held.
Held in Care was born from a simple truth: caregivers deserve more than just survival. We created this space to offer restoration and reflection, helping you soften your nervous system and remember that you are just as worthy of care as those you look after.
In partnership with Sana Roots Co. and Moon Soul Yoga, we focused on grounding and sound healing. Guided by the intuitive Claudia Solitaire, participants were invited to release tension and quiet the noise of life. Through restorative sound and stillness, the gathering became a gentle haven for safety and deep connection.
The most moving part? There was no pressure to "fix" or perform. Everyone was given permission to arrive exactly as they were—listening inward and receiving the care they so often extend to everyone else.
Supporting caregivers is deeply connected to mental health because caregivers are often the emotional anchors of their families and communities. When caregivers are depleted, overwhelmed, or chronically disconnected from their own needs, the effects ripple outward—shaping not only their own wellbeing, but also the emotional climate of the children, partners, elders, and communities they support. I believe that tending to caregiver mental health is not an extra or an afterthought; it is foundational. When caregivers have space to rest, regulate, reflect, and feel held themselves, they are better able to respond with presence, patience, and compassion. Caring for caregivers is one of the ways we strengthen families, interrupt cycles of burnout and isolation, and create the conditions for more sustainable healing and collective wellbeing.
At TEKU, I remain committed to creating offerings that honor the people who hold so much for others and to building spaces where healing can happen in connection. Stay tuned for future gatherings, workshops, and community events—we would be honored to continue growing, resting, and healing alongside you.
